Budget will promote justice in C’garh: CM

The Chhattisgarh budget will advance the cause of justice, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday.

In his 17th episode of Lokvaani radio programme, Baghel emphasized the lessons learnt during the Covid-19 crisis.

Answering questions from the audience, he said that interests of all the sections of the society have been taken into account while presenting the budget this year.

The Chief Minister said the objective of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana is to empower the farmers. He pointed out that the government procured 92 lakh tonnes of paddy from farmers, which is a record for paddy procurement in the state.

“We have made a budget provision of Rs. 5,703 crores to provide cash assistance to farmers under the Yojana.”

Besides, a budget provision of Rs 150 crores has been made to improve nutritional security and economic condition of farmers in seven tribal-dominated districts and 14 development blocks of Mungeli district.

To benefit farmers with interest-free agricultural loans, the government has set the biggest goal so far in the history of Chhattisgarh — to disburse loan of Rs 5,900 crores.

Baghel said the objective of the Naveen Nyaya Yojana is to ensure regular income to the landless laborers and to support the rural agricultural landless laborers.

He added that though the government has paid about Rs 90 crores against the procurement of cow dung, “I am happy to say that through gauthan self-help groups have earned nearly Rs 950 crores from the production and sale of vermicompost and items using cow dung.”
