Raipur: The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly commenced with Governor Anusuiya Uikey’s address, followed tabling of the motion of thanks on her address, the Assembly official said. Governor in her address said that the state of Chhattisgarh has come forward as a public welfare state. The Governor praised the Chhattisgarh model and said that the people of the state are getting the benefit of Gordhan Nyay Yojana, the government has set many records in rural development. The government has received 36 national awards in three years.
Under the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, a target of pure drinking water has been set for the people of the state. Quality education is being provided in the scheduled areas, local people are being recruited against the vacant posts. The malnutrition rate in Chhattisgarh has come down from 30.13% to 19.86%. Many health schemes have been running in the state, many works have been done for women’s self-reliance. The regry of small plots has been started; up to 40 per cent exemption has been given in regration tax.
Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel, who holds charge of the state finance department, will present the state budget on March 9th. Till Sunday, 1,682 questions were received from the legislators, including 854 starred questions and 828 un-starred ones. Besides, 114 notices were received for the calling attention motion and 10 for the adjournment motion, the official said. There will be 13 sittings during the session, which will conclude on March 25th.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik said the BJP is fully prepared to corner the state government during the session on several issues, particularly the “deteriorating” law and order situation. Kaushik claimed that for the first time such a short budget session is being held in the hory of Chhattisgarh, which is a violation of the parliamentary tradition. “We will try to raise all issues of public importance in such a short period. “We will target the government over the rising crimes, including incidents of rape and loot. We will also raise the issue of the increasing illegal sale of narcotics and liquor in the state,” the BJP leader said.
