CG: Complaint against Swachh Bharat Mission Officer for Harassing Women

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: A complaint was made in the Women’s Commission against the officer of the Swachh Bharat Mission for mentally harassing women. In the hearing, 18 people were present including the complainant and seven other women. The commission directed that no employee should be relieved till the matter is resolved.
The manager of Swachh Bharat Mission told in the hearing that more than 100 employees work in his department. A three-member internal family committee has been constituted in the department. The commission found the constitution of the committee wrong as there were no women members in the committee.
The Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak, heard the problems of all the people present in the hearing including the petitioner. It was later explained to the manager to immediately constitute an internal complaints committee, in which it is mandatory to have five members. Also, it is mandatory to have more than half of the women on the committee. The commission directed the managing officer to investigate the matter in detail and submit the documents before the commission within 15 days.
Advocate Shamim Rehman was appointed on behalf of the commission for an impartial investigation of the Internal Complaints Committee. In the meeting of the Internal Complaints Committee, all the members who testify related to the application and the case can also present their written statement in the affidavit or can record their statement on the spot.
The commission has further ordered to keep an eye on Google Meet and other modes of communication the officials of Swachh Bharat Mission so that no employee can be relieved of work due to vendetta or malice. The matter will be resolved in the next hearing.
