Raipur: The state government will adopt the girl child who lost her parents in the Kumhari flyover accident last week. Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel himself informed this today. In a tweet, the Chief Miner wrote, “The girl orphaned in the accident is the responsibility of all of us. We have decided to adopt this ba girl. The entire responsibility of the girl child now rests with the government.”
The incident on the flyover occurred as such; a bike fell down from an under-construction flyover in Kumhari around 12 o’clock on the night of 9-10 December. In this accident, Aju Ram Dewangan and his wife Nirmala Dewangan, residents of Changorabhata, Raipur, died on the spot. Their 13-year-old daughter Annu Dewangan, who was riding the bike, was injured but she survived the accident.
In the investigation, it was found that the construction agency had not put any such barrier or sign at the entry of the flyover, which would show that it was incomplete. Aju Ram, who left Durg to go to Raipur at night, could not foresee the danger and climbed on the flyover.
When he saw the bridge incomplete 100 meters ahead, he applied brakes, but the speed of the bike could not be controlled and he fell down along with his wife and daughter. Police arrived later and took the injured Annu to AIIMS. She has been discharged after initial treatment. It is being told that the deceased couple has three daughters, of which Annu is the eldest.
After the information about this accident came to the fore, the CG Chief Miner had given instructions to take action against the guilty company. The engineer of the construction agency ‘Royal Infra’ was found responsible for it. After talks with the adminration, the company announced a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to Annu Dewangan.
Holding the flyover construction company Royal Infra Construction Pvt Ltd responsible for the accident, the Durg police arrested the company’s senior engineer Piyush Padhi and sent him to jail last Tuesday. Not only this, but the police have also accused the company’s directors Jitendra Jain, Shreyansh Jain, project head Anirudh Jain and project manager Santanu Malik in this case.
