CG on Red Alert, Heavy Rains Anticipated For Next Few Days

Raipur: The Indian Meteorological Department on Friday issued red alert for 8 dricts of Chhattisgarh. The department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Raigarh, Korba, Kabir Dham, Bastar, Dantevada, Narayanpur, Sukma and Bijapur drcits of the state. Raigarh, so far has recorded highest level of rainfall in Chhattisgarh at 120 mm.
Weather Experts are of the opinion that the state is currently having 9% monsoon and because it will cross Dronika Pendra Road, there are chances that few places might receive heavy rains. The IMD has also issued Orange and Yellow alerts for other dricts as well with a possibility of thundering and lightning. The Balrampur drict, however, received the minimum showers at 65 mm.
Chhattisgarh is facing flood crisis for the past few weeks where the state witnessd arice truck getting washed away in strong flow of water and a CRPF jawan losing his life along with 3 villages due to heavy rains in the region.
Meanwhile, the Godavari and Indravati rivers are in spate. This is posed a challenge not only for Chhattisgarh but also for Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rains have been recorded in these two states as well in the past week.
