CG’s Aakarshi To Play In Commonwealth
Aakarshi Kashyap is the world’s third-highest ranked Indian female shuttler.The 20-year-old confirmed to be a part India’s squad for Uber Cup, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.She has also secured a Bronze medal at the Senior National Championship at the age of just 16 years.
Raipur: Aakarshi Kashyap from Chhattisgarh has emerged winner in the Badminton Association of India (BAI) selection trial held in Delhi to become eligible to participate in the Commonwealth Games-2022 and Asiad to be held in China. She is the only girl, apart from P V Sindhu, selected for the commonwealth games-2022. With a World rank of 53, she has represented India at Asian Games 2018, in Jakarta and bagged a gold medal during the South Asian games 2019 in Nepal.
Recently, she won the BAI series Senior Badminton tournament 2021 in women’s singles which was held from December 16th to 22nd at Chennai, during the 2nd BAI Series Badminton tournament 2021, held in Hyderabad from December 24th to 30th, Kashyap made it to runners. Besides, she won the bronze medal during the India Open 2022, which was held from January 1lth to 16th.
Aakarshi has recently returned from Malaysia representing India at Badminton Asia Team Championship,2022 which was held from February 15th to 20th. She has already participated in the German, All England, and Swiss Open which was held in the month of March. One time U-15, two times U-17, and U-19 National Championship in girl’s single category, Kashyap has notched up the first Gold medal for the state at Khelo India Youth Games 2019, at Pune. She has also secured a Bronze medal at the Senior National Championship at the age of just 16 years.
