Chhattisgarh Government Employees Plan Strike Ahead of Assembly Elections
Raipur- As the Chhattisgarh assembly elections are approaching, the Chhattisgarh Karmchari Adikhari Federation (CKAF) and Karmachar Aadhikaaree Mahasangha(KAM) need to hold an important convention. Representing nearly five hundred thousand state government employees/officers and over one hundred thousand pensioners. It was a high-stakes gathering. The sole aim was to create a successful action plan for their needs and demands. State spokespersons Chandrashekhar Tiwari and Mahendra Singh Rajput reported that the joint meeting occurred at the Nava Raipur secretariat.
The meeting concluded with the decision to stage a strike, aiming to draw the state government’s attention to their four-point demands. These demands include the implementation of House Rent Allowance (HRA) at par with the central government based on the 7th pay commission recommendations, the pending implementation of dearness allowance from the due date as per the 7th pay commission, submission of the Pingua Committee report on salary discrepancies to the state government, and the enforcement of a four-tier promotion pay scale.
A core committee of eleven members was formed during the meeting to oversee future actions, while another meeting will be held shortly to determine the strike’s date. Before initiating the strike, the employees will issue a request and demand letter to the state government ahead of the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. The strike is anticipated to coincide with the four-day session of the Assembly.
The spokespersons highlighted that the employees had been deprived of the promises made in the election manifesto, including promotion benefits. Furthermore, they mentioned that class IV employees are prepared to join the strike if the state government does not address their demands.
