Chhattisgarh: Two Cobra Jawans injured in Naxal encounter in Bijapur
Two jawans of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) force from 202 Battalion got injured after an encounter with the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur.
An official said that an encounter broke out between security forces and Naxalites at around 8 pm on Sunday in Bijapur, located around 400 km from the state capital Raipur.
Acting on a tip off, a Drict Reserve Guard (DRG), CoBRA force was sent to carry out a search operation from Gangalur Police Station. During the operation, an encounter broke out between the CoBRA forces and the Naxals, in which two Jawans sustained injuries. The security forces had recieved intel reports on an improvised explosive device (IED) planted between Pusnar and Hiroli villages under Gangaloor police station limits.
The injured jawans have been admitted to hospital and their condition is stable, the said IG Bastar. He added that 3-4 maos are speculated to have been injured.
