CM Baghel praises girl who moves around minus legs
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday lavished praise on a 11-year-old disabled girl student who leads a near normal life despite having no feet.
Gita Kumar told the Chief Minister that she fitted both legs with drinking glasses to serve as feet to move around.
A visibly moved Baghel virtually presented a motorized tricyle to Gita Kumari of Gariaband district from his residence. He also accepted an invitation from her to visit her village after the Covid-19 crisis abates.
Gita, a Class 6 student, lives in village Chidauli Kamarpara, an official communication said.
Appreciating her indomitable spirit, the Chief Minister sought details of her studies, the distance from her home to school and the economic status of the family.
He told Gita to call the district Collector if she needed any help.
Collector Nilesh Kumar Ksheersagar said the measurement of Gita’s legs have been taken for providing her artificial feet by the Physical Referral Rehabilitation Centre, Mana Camp, Raipur. Within ten days, both feet will be prepared, he said.
Social Welfare Department Secretary Reena Baba Saheb Kangale said Gita was given a hand-driven tri-cycle but she donated it to another disabled person.
Now, Gita has been given a battery-run tri-cycle.
