CM devolves powers to Panchayat bodies
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday made several key announcements to empower the three-tier Panchayat bodies in Chhattisgarh.
The announcements include financial powers to the office bearers of Panchayat bodies and mandatory presentation of note-sheets of state budget schemes to them.
He made these announcements at the state-level Panchayati Raj convention held at the Indoor Stadium at Budhapara here.
The event was held to mark the birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The convention dwelt on the topic, “Role of Panchayat bodies in creating new Chhattisgarh”.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister announced a hike in honourarium of Zila Panchayat, Zanpad Panchayat Presidents and Sarpanchs and for making available vehicles for Zila and Zanpad Panchayat Presidents.
The honourarium of Sarpanchs was doubled and hiked to Rs 4,000. Similarly, the Sarpanchs can now issue orders for development works upto Rs 25 lakhs, he said.
AICC Chhattisgarh in-charge P.L. Punia and PCC chief Mohan Markam were present in the programme.
Office bearers of Panchayat bodies, Sarpanchs, Janpad Panchayat members, Chairman Janpad Panchayat, Zila Panchayat members and Zila Panchayat Presidents attended the meeting.
