CM expresses grief over demise of girl student
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday expressed deep grief over the demise of an eight-year-old Class 2 student, Divya Mandavi, due to a scorpion bite in village Bandhi in Bemetara district.
On the directive of the Chief Minister, the Bemetara District Education Officer handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Sukhram Mandavi, the girl’s father, under the student protection insurance.
Soon, Rs 4 lakh would be released under the provisions of the Revenue Book Circular, an official communication said.
According to school authorities, Divya was bitten by a scorpion hiding under a brick in the school premises during the midday break on June 29.
She was rushed to the Primary Health Centre, Dadhi, and given first aid. She was then referred to the Bemetara District Hospital and then to Raipur.
En route, her condition further deteriorated and she was rushed to the Simga health centre where doctors declared her dead.
