CM felicitates 83 tribal students
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday felicitated 83 students of Chhattisgarh admitted in IITs, NITs, IIITs and medical colleges to mark the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.
At the event held here, Anurag Lakra, Sandeep Kumar Tigga, Jyoti Routia and Sakshi Bhagat were honoured. The remaining 79 students were felicitated virtually.
The Chief Minister handed over Rs 50,000 as assistance to each student to procure a laptop, an official communication said.
Anurag Lakra (currently studying in IIT Kharagpur) and Sandeep Kumar Tigga (IIT BHU) in 2021cleared the JEE advance examination. They were students of Prayas Residential School, Saddu, Raipur.
Jyoti Routia (NEET 2000 qualified and admitted in Medical College, Raipur) and Sakshi Bhagat (Medical College, Ambikapur) are students of Prayas Girls Residential School, Gudhiyari, Raipur.
‘Prayas Vidyalaya’ is a key component of Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojana under which meritorious students from Naxalite hubs are prepared from Class 9 to 12 to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains-Advanced), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), and Chartered Accountant (CA) foundation course and other national level examinations for various courses.
There are nine Prayas Schools in the state: in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Surguja, Kanker, Bastar, Korba and Jashpur districts, with 4,120 sanctioned seats.
