CM greets on Vijay Diwas
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has on Wednesday saluted the valour of the Indian military on the occasion of Vijay Diwas.
On December 16, 1971, Indian soldiers registered a victory over the Pakistan Army and forced thousands of Pakistani soldiers to surrender in East Pakistan which became Bangladesh.
Baghel said in a statement: “The Indian soldiers bravely fought the war with Pakistan under the direction of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and under the able leadership of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.”
The war brought a geographical change in the world map as Bangladesh was born after the war.
Baghel said: “The victory over the Pakistan Army was the result of strong will and courageous leadership of Indira Gandhi. The war glorified India and the country will always be grateful to the brave Indian soldiers.”
