CM to pay Rs 1,104 cr to farmers in C’garh
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will transfer Rs 1,104.27 crores to the bank accounts of 18.43 lakh farmers on March 21 as the fourth instalment under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana.
So far, Rs 4,500 crores have been paid to the farmers. Similarly, Rs 23.62 crores were paid in three instalments to 4,777 certified seed producing farmers and Rs 74.24 crores to 34,292 sugarcane farmers as additional incentives and exchange assistance.
With the payment of the fourth installment to paddy producing farmers, a total of Rs 5,702 crores is being paid to the authentic seed producing farmers and sugarcane growing farmers, an official communication said on Friday.
So far, Rs 4,597 crores have been paid to the farmers under the scheme.
This scheme was launched to provide agricultural input assistance to the farmers with an aim to increase the production of major crops in the state.
Under the scheme, sugarcane has been included as Rabi crop and along with paddy 13 other crops such as maize, soybean, groundnut, sesame, pigeon pea, moong, urad, kulthi, ramatil, kodo, kutki and ragi have been included during the Kharif season.
Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers who cultivated paddy in Kharif 2019 are being paid in installments directly into their bank accounts at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre on the basis of the acreage obtained through cooperative society.
