CM Yogi inaugurates Munderwa sugar mill

Taking a jibe at the previous Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party regimes, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that they only laid the foundation stones of projects whereas the present Bharatiya Janata Party-led government not only laid the foundation stones of projects but also inaugurated them.

“The (BJP) government has not only opened the Munderwa sugar mill, which was closed for 20 years, it is also steadfastly working towards providing jobs to youths. Testimony to this is the declaration of results for recruitment of over 49,000 personnel in UP Police. We are working to fulfil the dreams of the people,” Yogi Adityanath said in Basti on Thursday.

The chief minister inaugurated a sugar mill in Munderwa whose crushing capacity is 5,000 TCD. He also inaugurated a 27 megawatt co-generation plant.

Yogi Adityanath said the Munderwa sugar mill was closed 20 years back and the farmers had staged protests against the decision.

“Now, this place is back to life. Earlier, the mill had to depend on power corporation to operate but now it will generate electricity on its own. While two to three megawatt electricity will be used for running the mill, the rest will be sold off and will bring in Rs 30 crore per year,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The chief minister also dedicated to people and laid the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 116 crore.
Yogi Adityanath said that a new medical college was opened in Basti and admissions and OPD had started in the first phase.

“A total of 12 medical colleges were opened in Uttar Pradesh from 1947 to 2016. The BJP government will be setting up 15 medical colleges between 2017 and 2020. In addition, a proposal for establishing 14 new medical colleges has been sent to the Centre,” he said.

Attacking the opposition parties, Yogi Adityanath said that the previous governments considered people as their ‘vote banks’ but his government was serving people with devotion. “We do not play with the sentiments of farmers, students and women,” he said.

The chief minister further said that the previous regimes had closed down 29 sugar mills in 12 years while his government had worked towards reopening the closed mills.

“The BJP government has made a payment of Rs 76,000 crore to cane farmers till now. We will not allow anyone to exploit farmers. The farmers will be paid their cane arrears by auctioning the defaulter sugar mills, if needed,” he said.

Commenting on the Supreme Court verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, Yogi Adityanath said the apex court had ended 500 years of agony in 45 minutes.

The chief minister also assured the people of road connectivity between Ayodhya and Janakpuri through Ram-Janaki Marg. It will enable people to cover the distance in three to four hours.
An airport too is on the anvil at Ayodhya.
