Couple Killed in Wild Elephant Attack

A couple died on the spot after being trampled a herd of elephants in Shahdol.A group of nine elephants were seen roaming around in the village of Sharadpur and Chitraon of North Forest Division Amjhor from the past two days. Fresh warnings issued, adjoining forest areas sealed.
Shahdol, CG: A couple on Tuesday morning died on the spot in the Jaisinhangar forest range, Chitraon village of Shahdol drict, police officials said. The deceased identified as Motilal Basor and Mulia Bai, residents of the Chitraon village had ventured into the forest at 5 am, to collect Mahua, when a herd of elephants trampled them to death.
Reportedly, a group of nine wild elephants has entered the village of Sharadpur and Chitraon of North Forest Division Amjhor. Warnings were issued to the locals to refrain from venturing into the forest, said the forest department officer, despite which the couple went into the forest. Soon after being alerted, a team of forest and police personnel rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem, sources said. Meanwhile, Station in-charge Amjhor and Sidhi police have been fencing the adjoining areas of the forest.
