Court ruling no clean chit to Raman, Sambit: Congress
The Congress on Wednesday accused the BJP of misinterpreting the rulings of the Chhattisgarh High Court and the Supreme Court on the toolkit row, saying the courts have only given a stay on police enquiries and a final decision was pending.
In a statement, PCC Communication Wing head Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Raman Singh and Sambit Patra had not got a clean chit from the courts.
“The courts have only given stay orders on the enquiry and the court has not declared that the BJP leaders were ‘not guilty’,” Trivedi said.
The BJP leaders are claiming they had been acquitted by the courts.
Twitter itself has declared that these BJP leaders’ tweets were manipulated media and that they used fake documents in their social media handles.
FIRs have been registered in so many police stations across the Chhattisgarh against the two and the leaders had filed petitions to stop the action flowing from FIR, Trivedi said.
Acting on the petitions, the courts have stayed the action till further order and a final decision was pending with the court, the Congress said.
