Covid-19 kills 42 last week
Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing in Chhattisgarh, leading to 42 deaths last week across the state, the Health Department said on Monday.
The weekly deaths in February and in the first week of March were 27 to 29, a statement from the department said, adding during the last week of January 43 deaths were reported.
Raipur and Durg districts saw the highest fatalities last week (11 each).
Of the 42 dead, 33 were men and 9 women. Also, 30 cases of comorbidity were registered. Just over 20 percent of those who died were between 45 and 59 years.
In Surajpur district, an elderly man had Covid like symptoms since March 7 but got tested only on March 13. He was admitted in a district hospital and later shifted to Ambikapur. He died on March 14.
Doctors have repeatedly cautioned that people should get themselves tested within 24 hours after they feel Covid like symptoms.
