Development only source of happiness: Adityanath
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that development was the only source of happiness as it helped in fulfilling the dreams of people by bringing them into the mainstream.
“The BJP government is working tirelessly to bring smiles on the faces of people as this government takes pride in making the lives of people easy,” Yogi said after inaugurating a bridge over Rapti river in Ban (Badhaya Thathar) village on Pipiganj-Mehandaval road of Campierganj tehsil in Gorakhpur on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Yogi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 14 projects worth over Rs 17,920 lakh in Gorakhpur and Sant Kakbir Nagar.
In his address, the CM said that the residents of Gorakhpur and Sant Kabir Nagar had been demanding Thathar bridge for a long time. “Today, the dreams of the people of both districts have been fulfilled,” he said.
Yogi further said, “The cabinet today decided to convert Belhar Kala and Belhar Khurd gram panchayats of Sant Kabir Nagar to nagar panchayats. The number of nagar panchayats will be increased in the coming days and the limits of municipal corporations and municipal councils will also be expanded to ensure better basic facilities to residents here,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promoted the idea of development without discrimination and Adarsh Village and Smart City were part of the plan. “Our government eliminated difference between villages and cities. Now, all districts and citizens are important,” he said.
Commenting on power supply, Yogi said that only a few districts got power supply till 30 months back. “Thousands of villages did not receive power supply after Independence. Our government ensured power supply to 1.80 crore houses, opened paddy purchase centres, paid cane prices and opened closed sugar mills,” he pointed out.
Attacking the previous SP-BSP regimes, the Chief Minister said that they provided benefits of welfare scheme on the basis of caste and religion. “In the present regime, the only standard is eligibility,” Yogi asserted.
The Chief Minister also said that earlier, Uttar Pradesh was known for riots and anarchy, but now it is known for good governance, progress and law & order.
Claiming improved health services, the Chief Minister said there were only 12 medical colleges in the state from 1947 to 2016 while the present government set up 15 medical colleges between 2016 and 2019, and 14 more medical colleges would be approved this year, taking the tally to 29 in three years. “Medicos have to fill a bond so that they can offer their services in rural areas for at least two years,” the CM said.
Yogi also said that routes connecting other states and Nepal would be four-lane roads. Along with this, district headquarters, tehsil and development blocks will be connected with four-lane and two-lane roads.
The CM said that the construction of Purvanchal Expressway had been expedited. “Besides, the construction work of Bundelkhand Expressway is on while the country’s largest Ganga Expressway connecting Meerut to Prayagraj is also being built,” Yogi said.
“The construction of Jewar Airport will be completed by 2023, and will generate a revenue of more than Rs one lakh crore. Once the Jewar Airport becomes operational and all three expressways are opened for public, employment opportunities and income of people will also increase,” the Chief Minister said.
