Effective implementation of PESA soon: Singh Deo
Panchayat Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Wednesday said the Chhattisgarh government was committed to effectively implement the Panchayats Extension to the Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act in the state.
He was addressing MPs and MLAs of scheduled areas in which he sought their suggestions on the draft prepared for the Act.
The draft has also been sent to the departments of Revenue, Forest, Tribal Welfare, Labour and Home for suggestions, the Minister said.
After finalization, the draft will be presented to the Chief Minister and then tabled in the Assembly, he said.
Before making the rules, suggestions from various tribal communities and NGOs had been taken in the past one year, the Minister said
PESA will play an important role in taking contribution of tribals directly in the development of the schedule areas, he said.
Ensuring overall development with regular employment opportunities is possible only with effective implementation of PESA, he added.
