Electric vehicles need of hour: Minister
Chhattisgarh will extend all assistance to industry to promote electric vehicles as well as solar energy in the state, Transport Minister Mohammad Akbar said on Tuesday.
In the present global scenario of air pollution, there is a dire need to promote more and more electric vehicles, he said.
Akbar was addressing the ‘Chhattisgarh Electric Vehicle Conclave’ organized virtually by the Transport Department here, an official communication said.
The Minister said Chhattisgarh needs a new identity as an ‘Electric Vehicle Hub’ and a pollution-free state.
For this, companies are invited to manufacture electric vehicles and their components in the state. The aim is to attract investment in the e-mobility sector, he said.
Chhattisgarh has 66,20,427 vehicles including 55 lakh two-wheelers and 3 lakh goods carriers. Fuel prices are on the rise. In such a situation, electric vehicles have emerged as a good option.
