Govt schemes have made farmers’ financially sound: CM
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said the state government’s farmer friendly decisions and schemes have brought major positive changes in farmers’ lives.
“There were days when farmers were at the doorstep of money-lenders and loan-defaulters in societies. They turn bleak during farming season every year for procurement of fertilizers and seeds. Now, it’a total turnaround. Major finance companies are at the doorstep of farmers offering tractors and other consumer goods” remarked Baghel.
He was addressing the virtual event of inauguration and bhumi poojan of development works in Korba and Janjgir-Champa districts.
Inauguration and bhumi poojan of 121 development works worth Rs 104 crore in Korba district and 144 works to the tune of Rs 122.96 crore at Janjgir-Champa was done by Chief Minister.
Baghel also sanctioned Darri Barrage-Gopalpur road, Gopalpur-Barbaspur road, Electricity Warehouse in Korba, 132 KV sub-station at Balauda, and road from Dabra-Kharsia, barrage on Mand river.
Baghel said that farm loan waiver, procurement of paddy at support price, Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana, Godhan, Suraji Gaon, Narva-Gharuva-Ghuruva-Bari has helped to strengthen and boost the economy of villages. Rural areas have more purchasing power than urban areas with cash inflow.
Changes in villages are also due to women empowerment. Large number of them are involved with gauthans and related works. He spoke in detail on benefits of agroforestry and its incentives.
