Gunny sacks shortage issue will be raised: CM
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said he will raise the issue of shortage of gunny sacks against Chhattisgarh’s requirements when he meets Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for pre-budget consultations.
Before going to Satna (Madhya Pradesh), he told the media at the Swami Vivekananda Airport that to ensure smooth procurement of paddy, the issue of shortage of gunny sacks will be raised with Sitharaman.
The state targets to procure 105 lakh tonnes of paddy through minimum support price. Chhattisgarh has been permitted to procure 2.14 lakh bales of jute bags against a need of 5.25 lakh bales.
“The poison of religious conversion and communal hatred cannot be spread in the state. The people have rejected it in the urban body elections where the BJP lost in the ward of former Chief Minister Raman Singh and in the village of Vijay Baghel (MP Durg).
“BJP leaders have to understand that they cannot take these issues among the people,” the Chief Minister said.
