Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms Likely in Chhattisgarh
Raipur– Chhattisgarh’s weather is predicted to shift, and the state’s capital, Raipur, and many other dricts will likely see heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has issued a yellow alert for the state, predicts significant rainfall and thunderstorms for the Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Bastar, Kanker, Sukma, and Dantewada dricts.
The IMD has also forecast gusty winds at up to 50 kilometres per hour in these dricts.
The weather department has advised people to take precautions against heavy rains and thunderstorms. People have been advised to stay indoors, avoid driving in heavy rain, and keep away from trees and power lines.
The weather change is due to a low-pressure area over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. The low-pressure area will likely intensify into a depression in the next 24 hours.
The heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue till Tuesday. The weather is likely to improve from Wednesday onwards.
The weather change is likely to benefit the state’s agriculture sector. The rains are expected to boost the sowing of Kharif crops.
The heavy rains are also likely to cause waterlogging in some areas. The drict adminrations have been alerted to deal with any situation arising from heavy rains and thunderstorms.
