IT Raids on Businessmen in CG; Congress Takes a Dig at Centre

Raipur: CM Bhupesh Baghel takes a dig at the Centre after the IT Dept launched a search operation at multiple locations linked to businessmen in CG.

Baghel while departing to Tamil Nadu interacting with the media reporters on the Swami Vivekananda Airport said- “I had said (that raids will happen)… now ED will also follow them,” Baghel said when asked about the action the IT department.

Last week, Baghel had said his “well-wishers” informed him that Chhattisgarh will soon see raids the ED and IT because MLAs of the ruling UPA coalition from neighboring Jharkhand were staying at a resort near Raipur.

Earlier today the IT department conducted raided premises in Raipur, Raigarh drict. Premises of Amlidh Kachana, Katora Talab were raided in Birgaon. Offices of the Chartered Accountants of the businessmen were also searched, sources said.

Others who were raided include liqour Baron owner Amolak Singh Bhatia, Lava Ramdas Agarwal, Natwar Rateria and Mukesh Agarwal

Commenting on the raids, Chhattisgarh Congress communication wing’s chief Sushil Anand Shukla alleged the Modi government has been misusing the Central probe agencies.

“There are reports that raids are being carried out I-T at the premises of some businessmen. The way the Modi government is misusing Central investigation agencies, a slogan ‘kednra sarkar ke teen jamai (sons-in-law), ED, IT, and CBI’ has become common among people,” he said.
