J&K: Four Terrorists Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in Bandipora; Operation Underway

New Delhi: Four terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The encounter broke out in the dense forest area of Panar between the terrorists and the joint team of army and special team of air force.

Confirming the incident, a police officer said that the two terrorists were killed in the operation. The operation is currently underway. More details in the incident awaited.

Notably, the encounter came a day after Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that there would be no extension to the unilateral ceasefire, which was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir to create peaceful environment in valley during the holy month of Ramzan.

Addressing a press conference, Singh had said,“On 17th May, GoI (Government) took decision that Security Forces will not conduct offensive operations in J&K during holy month of Ramzan. Decision was taken in interests of the peace loving people of J&K, in order to provide them a conducive atmosphere to observe Ramzan.”

“Security Forces are being directed to take all necessary actions as earlier to prevent terrorists from launching attacks and indulging in violence and killings. Government will continue with its endeavour to create an environment free of terror and violence in J&K,” he added.

Since past few days, Jammu and Kashmir have been witnessing a huge spurt in terror attacks. On Friday, two police personnel and one civilian were injured in a terrorist attack at a police patrolling party in Srinagar.

On Thursday, two bike-borne terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and snatched his rifle near Sadora Railway Station in Anantnag district.
