RAIPUR: La Tomatino in Raipur! Yes you’ve got it right. A festival of tomatoes as a pre-Holi celebration is being organized at Whling Wood Garden, VIP Road, Raipur on March 5th.
As many as 10,000 kgs of Tomatoes have beeb ordered for the festival. The festival like other events would have DJ, food stalls, rain dance and several other activities.
The organizers said that in addition to tomatoes, herbal gulal prepared from 2 thousand kg flowers will also be used in this event. The organizers said that keeping in view the compromise farmers make to sell their produce, they have decided to purchase tomatoes from local farmers.
La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, in the east of Spain 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes. Since 1945 it has been held on the last Wednesday of August, during a week of festivities in Buñol.
