Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare passed away after prolonged illness at a Mumbai hospital on Thursday.
Katare, an MLA from Bhind’s Ater assembly constituency, was ill and had even went for treatment in New York and had recuperated. He was again shifted to Mumbai’s Heeranandani hospital after he fell ill.

Katare was born on Feb 15, 1955. A Post Graduate in Law, Katare hailed to Manepura (Ater) in Bhind district. He had spent his early days in Youth Congress and served as State Secretary from 1985 to 1990.
He served as Minister of State of Transport and Jail in Motilal Vora’s government from 1989 to 1990. He was deputed as Minister of State for Home affairs in Digvijay Singh government’s first tenure in Madhya Pradesh from 1993 to 1995 while he served as Minister of Civil Supplies in Digvijay government from 1995 to 1998.
As Congress was dethroned by BJP from power in 2003, he served as an MLA from Ater from 2003 to 2008 and successfully sought re-election from his home seat in 2013 after losing the election in 2008.
