Minister, MLAs, Collector detected Covid-19 positive

Chhattisgarh Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Guru Rudra Kumar on Sunday said he has tested positive for coronavirus and is in home isolation.

Congress legislator from Abhanpur Dhanendra Sahu,  Raipur (North) MLA Kuldeep Juneja, Rajnandgaon Mayor Hema Deshmukh and Mahasamund Collector Doman Singh have also tested positive for the infection.

“On noticing the symptoms of Covid, I got myself tested. My report came out positive. I am fine and undergoing treatment in home isolation on the advice of doctors,” Rudra Kumar tweeted.

He urged those who came in contact with him recently to get themselves tested.

With this, two Cabinet Ministers have contracted Covid-19. On January 2, Health Minister T S Singh Deo tested positive.

The Collector on Saturday got himself tested after having symptoms of the virus. His report came positive on Sunday morning.

As on Sunday, Chhattisgarh has witnessed 10,23,313 Corona caseloads and 13,615 deaths since Covid-19 appeared in early 2020. The state has had 15,126 new cases since January 1, 2022, the Health Department said.

Night curfew has been imposed in several districts of Chhattisgarh, including Raipur. Rallies, processions and other public events have been banned across the state.
