Modi has given political stability: Sitharaman
The Modi government has given political stability and reforms have been undertaken to benefit everyone from small traders to major players, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday.
She was addressing industrialists, traders and businessmen at an event here.
The Minister said before and after Covid-19, various steps were taken to tap the economy, which is reflected through the sentiments in the stock market. Similarly, flow of sovereign funds and investment is on the rise for infrastructure and real estate.
“When lockdown was imposed, not a single Personal Protection Equipment kit was made in the country. Apart from industries, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) also stepped in to make kits including oxygen supply systems for hospitals. Now, the country has become self-reliant.”
Similarly, free ration was distributed during the pandemic. Several steps were undertaken for migrant workers and providing them jobs.
Calling the 2004-14 a lost decade, she said the Modi government is taking many decisions through reforms to rectify faults.
