Modi talks to Taliban, not to farmers: Congress

The Congress on Wednesday denounced the Narendra Modi government for holding talks with the Taliban but not the farmers protesting for months on Delhi’s borders.

PCC Chairman (Communication Wing) Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said this had unmasked “the real face” of the Modi regime.

The Modi government was anti-farmer, anti-poor and corrupt, he charged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier pledged to double the farmers’ income but had hiked the price of farm equipment, chemical fertilizers and diesel, pushing up the production cost, Trivedi said.

Forget fulfilling the demands of the agitating farmers, the government does not even talk to them properly, he said.

On the contrary, the Chhattisgarh government always stood with the farmers and so it fulfilled the promise of farm loan waiver within 10 days of taking power, he said.
