Nat’l player Chandan gets Rs 2 lakh from CM
Chandan Vushu, a national player of Surguja’s Runiyadih village, on Monday received a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for participating in the national games.
Chandan, who participated in the Fighting Game Open Competition, met the Chief Minister at the circuit house at Surajpur and sought financial help for travel and boarding facilities for the national games.
The 18-year-old plays fighting games like Vushu, Thoda, Thangta and Athelema. Chandan secured the second position in the Thoda national game in Shimla.
On meeting the Chief Minister, Chandan said he belongs to a poor farmer’s family. Playing for Chhattisgarh at the national level needs money. It was not possible for him to bear the cost of playing even after being selected for the national competitions, he said.
He urged Baghel to provide him financial aid. The Chief Minister approved his request.
