Naxal incidents contained in Cong govt: CM Baghel
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said his government’s policy has restricted Naxalite movement in the state and led to a drastic dip in incidents in the last three years.
Interacting with the media, the Chief Minister said that compared to the BJP’s 15 years in government, the Congress-led government’s policy has seen a fall in incidents related to Naxalite violence.
During this period, highly improvised arms have been seized and many top leaders have either surrendered or have been killed or caught.
During the BJP government, the Naxalite movement spread from three blocks to 14 districts in the state.
Under the new government, faith and confidence have been restored among the tribals, youth and women in Naxalite hubs.
Employment too was ensured in different forms. This is the reason why Naxalites now say that they are facing problems finding new recruits, Baghel added.
The Chief Minister dismissed as a “lie” Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia’s comment of non-cooperation by the Chhattisgarh government.
The Prime Minister had inaugurated the Jagdalpur airport which remained non-operational. After the Congress took power in Chhattisgarh, flight services commenced at Jagdalpur and Bilaspur airports. Work on Ambikapur airport is in progress.
The fact is that the Central government has not provided services like cargo hub and expansion of Raipur airport including international flights, he said.
