NIA Nabs Wanted Woman Naxal From Bijapur
BIJAPUR: A Naxal wanted in the attack on a police party in 2021 was arrested said an NIA official on Monday. The woman Naxalite identified as Madkam Ungi alias “Kamla” was wanted in the death of 22 police personnel.
Kamla, a resident of Muthamadgu in Bijapur drict, was arrested during a raid on Sunday and subsequently, produced before the NIA Special Court in Jagdalpur, the spokesperson said.
She was arrested on Sunday from the Bhopalpatnam area in the Bijapur drict after the federal agency launched a search operation in view of a tip-off received. She was arrested the NIA-Raipur in connection with a case pertaining to the attack armed CPI (Mao) members on police and security force personnel near Tekalgudiyam village in Bijapur in 2021 that resulted in the death of 22 policemen and injuries to 30 others, the official of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said.
A case pertaining to the attack was initially regered the Tarrem police station in the Bijapur drict and was later re-regered the NIA on June 5, 2021.
Further probe in the case is underway.
