Odisha’s Parties Argue With Chhattisgarh Government Over The Mahanadi Dispute

Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, 29 April, the second phase of the Mahanadi River Water Dispute Tribunal took place, where the political groups took a step into the matter. BJD has asked the Centre to intervene and take action against the “anti-Odisha Stance” launched Congress and BJP.
The BJD political party talked with Chhattisgarh when it got to know about the illegal construction of barrages near the Mahanadi river. They demanded that the construction be stopped, and the BJD leaders even wanted a tripartite meeting to occur. This meeting was to be conducted in New Delhi, and the BJD leaders informed the media about the same. 
BJD leaders even said that the Odia Union Miner didn’t support his state and sided with Chhattisgarh, so they want this matter to be solved the Centre. Chhattisgarh was supported the Bharatiya Janata Party when the Odisha Government took this matter to the Supreme Court.
The BJD leaders also said that the ruling party in Chhattisgarh, which is Congress, shook hands with all the neighboring states to ensure they won’t support Odisha in this matter. Dilip Mallick, a BJP Politician, said these slogans won’t help the government solve the water disputes between the two states.
