One-third Guathans now autonomous: CM
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said more than one-third of the Gauthans (2800) built and operated in the state have now become autonomous.
He was addressing the event of online transfer of Rs 5.38 crore to cow dung vendors, villagers and Gauthan committees and women self-help groups under the ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ here.
He said that 2,800 Gauthans have become self-reliant, which is one-third of the more than 7,500 built and operated in the state. These have procured cow dung using their own capital. A total procurement worth Rs 12.60 crore was done by these Gauthans.
The Chief Minister congratulated all the office-bearers and members of the successful Gauthan committees.
He said under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, a total of Rs 129.86 crore has been paid to cow dung vendors. The women self-help groups have produced 15.29 lakh quintals of compost manure from procured cow dung in the state.
