Only one family opposes decisions taken in national interest: Yogi
In a scathing attack on the Congress party, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the ‘family’ that claims to have played an important role in Independence struggle was now opposing hoisting of tri-colour at the Jammu-Kashmir secretariat.
The CM said this while addressing a gathering on the occasion of the 215th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Rana Beni Madhav Singh in Rae Bareli on Tuesday.
“The Congress workers say that Article 370 should not have been abrogated. Today, when such historical and courageous decisions are being taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, only one ‘family’ is opposing them. For how long will the nation pay for the sins of one family,” the CM said.
Referring to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army, Yogi said that giving befitting reply to enemies was the duty of the government.
“Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is credited to have honoured every soldier who sacrificed his life in the line of duty. The government has also taken steps to allot petrol pumps and LPG agencies to families of the martyred soldiers in order to make them financially independent,” the CM said.
Talking about the welfare of soldiers, the Yogi said: “The state government is providing government jobs to one of the dependents of each martyred soldier. The government has already started paying Rs 25 lakh as ex gratia to the family of a deceased soldier.”
He added that the Central government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had built a war memorial in Delhi where the names of all the martyrs were engraved. The statues of bravehearts who received Paramaveer Chakra had also been installed there, he added.
“In the coming years, the country will be counted among the three big economies of the world,” the CM said.
Referring to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ask the citizens to take a pledge against the use of plastic on October 2. In order to prevent the use of plastic, we have promoted pottery and also formed Maati Kala Board for the welfare of potters and Prajapati community.”
