Percentage fixed for each category for vaccination

A committee of Secretaries under the Chief Secretary has recommended allocation of Covid-19 vaccine to different categories, with those in the frontline category cornering 20 percent of the total.

As per the recommendations, Antyodaya ration card, destitute ration card, Annapurna ration card and differently able ration card category holders will account for a total of 15 percent.

BPL ration card holders will have 52 percent of the total available vaccine while the APL category will account for the remaining doses, an official communication said on Sunday.

According to the committee, the frontline workers include those with comorbidity, those serving food and vegetable vendors, bus and truck drivers and assistant drivers, Anganwadi workers, Mitanin, Panchayat secretary/workers, PDS shop manager and sellers, women in institutional care, state government and Public Sector Undertaking employees, old-age home inmates and those working in cremation and burial grounds.

The identification of each category will be based on ration cards for Antyodaya, destitute, Annapurna, differently abled and BPL. Those in APL category can have ration card, voter ID, Aadhar card, driving licence and PAN card.

The comorbidity person should carry a certificate from a registered doctor.

The committee states that no person will be forced to take vaccination. Those interested will be administered the vaccine.
