Brazil police foil bomb plot at Lady Gaga’s concert in Rio de Janeiro | World News

Brazilian police say they have stopped a planned bomb attack targeting Lady Gaga’s massive concert at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
According to a statement posted the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro on X, the attack was intended to create a viral impact on social media. “The goal was to gain online notoriety through violence,” police said.
Authorities said the plot involved improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and that suspects had tried to recruit others to help carry out the attack. The main suspect has been arrested, and a teenager was also taken into custody.

“The operation was carried out in coordination with the Minry of Justice,” police added, though they did not release further details about the suspects or the explosives.
The concert, which drew an estimated crowd of more than two million people, went ahead without disruption. Lady Gaga performed for free as part of a major public event on the city’s famous beach.
Police have not indicated any links to organised extrem groups, but investigations are ongoing.
BBC News reported that the quick intervention likely prevented a mass casualty incident, given the size of the crowd. The concert was one of the biggest public gatherings in Brazil this year.
