Private school students who lost parents also to get help: CM
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday announced that children in private schools who lost parents/guardians to Covid-19 will also get free education from the state government.
Under the Mahtari Dular Yojana, the government will bear the educational expenditure of such children.
The students will have the choice to either continue their education in the same private school or they can go for the Swami Atmanand English Medium School. The government will bear their school fees, an official communication said.
The government has launched the Mahtari Dular Yojna to provide free education and monthly scholarship to children studying in government schools who lost their parents or guardians to the pandemic.
Under the scheme, students will get a scholarship of Rs 500 a month from Class I to 8 and Rs 1,000 a month from Class 9 to 12.
Children who lost the earning parent (mother, father or both) to Covid are eligible to avail this scheme.
