Rail Industrial Park to boost industrial activities: Baghel
The Chhattisgarh government is working to improve the industrial scenario.
So far, 167 MoUs have been signed with a promised investment of Rs 78,000 crore in the state.
The establishment of a Rail Industrial Park will help the rapid expansion of industrial activities, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday.
He was addressing a public gathering to mark the inauguration of the newly constructed Rail Industrial Park at Hathkhoj in Bhilai industrial area in Durg district.
The Chief Minister said the process of setting up 90 industrial units have begun. These account for an investment of Rs 19,550 crore and jobs to 33,000 persons.
He said that earlier when industrial areas were formed, there was lack of basic facilities. In the Rail Park, all facilities are available.
Baghel said that Chhattisgarh is predominantly an agricultural state. The government has laid special emphasis on food processing units to utilise the potential.
In the food and processing sector, an investment of Rs 1,167 crore has been made through 478 units, providing employment to 6,000 people.
The Principal Secretary in the Industries Department, Manoj Pingua, said that there are 22 plots in the rail park. Units manufacturing equipment for railways will come up.
