Ramgarh: The Revered Haven of Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit

Surguja- In Chhattisgarh, the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit Scheme has been instrumental in illuminating the state’s deep-rooted connections with the epic narrative of Ramayana, enhancing its stature in the spheres of spirituality, culture, and tourism. Situated around 60 km from Ambikapur, the captivating site of Ramgarh is one of the ten key locations in the state earmarked to rejuvenate the legendary journey of Lord Shri Ram during his 14-year exile.

Noted for being a vital chapter in Lord Ram’s epic sojourn, Ramgarh, also known as Ramgiri, harbors monumental signs of divine footsteps amidst its wooded surroundings. The revered mountain here is believed to have hosted Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman, providing them with a tranquil sanctuary adorned with various caves during their exile. These shelters not only offer a testament to the times they spent there but also lend an archaeological and mythical richness to the place.
The intricate network of caves here, namely Sitabengra and Laxman Bengra, stand as significant markers of their horic sojourn. Sitabengra, characterized its rectangular shape and dimensions of 14 meters in length and 5 meters in width, showcases a unique blend of natural heritage and mythological narratives. Adjacent to it, the Jogimara cave, measuring 3 meters in length and 1.8 meters in width, tells tales of ancient ingenuity with its connected channels resembling the communicative functions of modern mobile phones.
