Janjgir: Hopes are high after 10-year-old Rahul who has been trapped for 78 hours in an 80-foot-deep borewell-and a little movement or response from him has boosted the morale of the rescue team that’s relentlessly working since Friday to save him. Rahul Sahu’s courage despite his physical challenges and the darkness of the borewell is being sworn upon.

Arrangements were being made on instructions of the chief miner to create a green corridor from Pihrid village to CIMS or Apollo in Bilaspur drict for shifting Rahul to hospital soon after his rescue. While a parallel pit has been created with special drilling machines, the ground is shaking, hence, safety measures were being taken as a priority to prevent any untoward situation.

More than 500 personnel including the NDRF, SDRF, police and adminration and members of rescue teams from mining giants were camping at the location with the drict collector and SP Vijay Agrawal playing major roles in the massive operation. According to Mahabir Mohanty, inspector of NDRF, rescue should be done 2-3 am on Wednesday.

Mohanty too has been camping on the spot as he is leading the rescue operation from NDRF’s third battalion. He said that Rahul could have been rescued much earlier but as it’s difficult to decipher the instructions being given to him due to speech and hearing impairment, the task has become even more difficult.
