Korba: Shivnath Express train number 18239 in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon got derailed today morning. The train was traveling from Korba to Itwari (Nagpur) in Maharashtra when the accident happened. At present, no casualties have been reported.
Nagpur Railway Division’s DRM Maninder Singh Uppal said “Shivnath Express which was going from Bilaspur towards Nagpur was about to enter platform number 3 of Dongargarh railway station when two coaches derailed at the same time. No passenger was hurt as the train was moving at slow speed”.
Accident Relief Train and Accident Medical Assance Train from Gondia and Itwari were dispatched to the accident immediately. Higher officials of the Indian Railways reached the spot as soon as the information was received and the repair work of the coach is being done along with the track. The reason for the accident is still unknown.
More than 7 trains have been stopped at various stations as the repair work continues. Trains pertaining to this route have been running late two to three hours. Meanwhile, the derailed coaches of Shivnath Express have been removed and the train has left for Itwari.
