Shivpal Yadav slams Yogi govt over deteriorating law, order
Hitting out at the Yogi Adityanath government, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) chief Shivpal Singh Yadav said that law and order in the state was going from bad to worse and the people of the state were facing the brunt of the bad governance of the present regime.
“Incidents of loot, dacoity, chain-snatching and crime against women have become order of the day, testifying that law and order in the state has collapsed. The time has come for the people to rise against this tyranny,” Shivpal Yadav said, speaking at a demonstration he led against the government here on Thursday.
Yadav said even the state capital was not free from criminals who struck at will while the police remained mute spectator.
“The Chief Minister claims that law and order has improved but the fact is that there is no let-up in crime. The most disappointing thing about this government is that even policemen are being beaten up by criminals,” Shivpal Yadav said.
Daring policemen to arrest him, the PSPL chief said he would speak the truth. “The police have become a political tool of the ruling party. If the administration wants to arrest me I am ready to go to jail but will not stop from raising people’s demands,” he said.
The PSPL staged demonstration against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and later staged a dharna when the police stopped the party workers from marching towards Vidhan Bhawan.
“There is an attempt to gag the voice of the people. The economy is in shatters. The prices of petroleum products have gone up. We demand that petrol, diesel and other petroleum products be brought under the purview of Goods and Services Tax (GST) to bring down the prices of the essential commodity,” he said.
Earlier, the PSPL workers took out a march from party office on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg near secretariat annexe to Vidhan Bhawan. The march was led by Shivpal Singh Yadav and his son Aditya, who is general secretary of the party.
The PSPL workers clashed with the police near GPO at Hazratganj when they tried to break the barricade put up by police to prevent them from marching to Vidhan Bhawan.
Later, the PSPL workers sat on dharna at the GPO roundabout and raised slogans against the Yogi government.
The demonstration created traffic snarl at Hazratganj and schoolchildren faced its brunt. Their rickshaws and vans were stopped and not allowed to pass by the protesters.
