Union Minister Smriti Irani alleged today that Congressman Rahul Gandhi blew a kiss as he left parliament after a speech of no confidence.”Only a man who despises women can wind a kiss to a parliament with female MPs sitting in it,” said Smriti Irani, referring to Rahul Gandhi, who was reinstated to parliament yesterday.
She accused Mr Gandhi’s actions of “lack of dignity”.BJP congresswomen complained to Lok Sabha President Om Birla about Mr Gandhi’s “indecent gestures”, accusing him of insulting women.
Ms Irani later told reporters that Congress had never witnessed such “hate against women”. “Never before has a man’s ‘discrimination against women’ been so evident in parliament. When the House of Commons – where legislation was introduced to protect the dignity of women – testified in the a session on a man’s misogynist behavior, my question is should he be reprimanded?” she asked, told reporters.
BJP MP Poonam Mahajan, referring to the alleged flying kiss, told NDTV that Rahul Gandhi’s gesture at the end of his speech showed his upbringing was not “proper”.
“Anyone sitting in the press room can see what he’s doing. His gestures are embarrassing. When you’re an MP, you have to know what language to use,” she said. However, Congressional sources said Rahul Gandhi’s gesture was not directed at any particular member.
Rahul Gandhi has begun the second day of the Lok Sabha distrust debate today.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, Mr. Gandhi said: “Manipur has been split in two. Government policy has killed India in this state. You are not the protector of Bharat Mata, you are his killers
