Govt doing all it can to develop Bastar: CM

All feasible efforts are being made by the Chhattisgarh government to fulfill the development related needs of the people of Bastar region, including Sukma and Bijapur districts, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday.

He was interacting with a delegation of people’s representatives and villagers of the two districts here.

Baghel sought details of the status of ground level implementation of public welfare and development schemes in both the districts, an official communication stated.

He said it was the duty of the public representatives to connect the villagers with government schemes. Villagers should be motivated to come forward to take advantage of the schemes in rural and remote areas.

The villagers told the Chief Minister that they wanted roads, electricity, hospitals, ambulances and ashram-hostel facilities for the education of children.

They said the law and order situation had improved and people now visit their relatives for marriage, death and more.

The villagers also praised the health facilities. Solar lights have been installed in villages. Weekly markets have re-opened in the interior areas, they said.
