SP, BSP crying wolf: UP BJP

Hitting out at opposition parties, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh president Swatantra Dev Singh said that the previous regimes of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party were corrupt and now that action was being taken against them, they were crying wolf.

In a statement, Singh said that both SP and BSP had lost political ground because of their anti-people policies.

“When both these parties were in power, their leaders looted government money and made mansions and villas. Today, when people are asking questions, their leaders are feeling panicky,” Singh said.

The BJP state chief was reacting to the statements of SP president Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati in which they accused the BJP at the Centre of misusing government agencies like CBI and ED for political vendetta.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are providing clean governance. None of their relatives have even taken a free ride in government vehicles. Everyone knows what happened during previous regimes. Brother of a chief minister became a multi-millionaire all of a sudden while a former chief minister even decided to construct a hotel,” Singh pointed out.

The BJP leader said that the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) were independent agencies and they were working as per the inputs they were getting.

“Why is Akhilesh Yadav so scared? If he has not done anything wrong, why should he be so afraid?” Singh asked.

Power Minister and UP government spokesman Shrikant Sharma said in a statement that the BSP and SP should not mislead the people.

“Law and order situation in UP is very good. Criminals will be put in jail,” he said.
