Stop illegal paddy transportation from other states: Baghel
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday called for strict monitoring of illegal transportation of paddy from neighbouring states.
The Chief Minister instructed all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police to keep a watch on illegal paddy movement by sealing the state’s borders.
Due to higher support price given in Chhattisgarh, complaints are received every year about smuggling of paddy from others states, he said.
The paddy in Chhattisgarh will be procured through 2,311 cooperative society centres from December 1.
Chhattisgarh has set a target of 105 lakh tonnes of paddy procurement in the present Kharif season.
The number of registered farmers in the state has increased to 22.66 lakhs.
Apart from support price, the Chhattisgarh government also provides input subsidies to farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
