RAIPUR: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will on Saturday lay the foundation stone for the third line in Rajnandgaon-Nagpur section on Howrah-Mumbai Rail route in Nagpur Division under South East Central Railway (SECR), in the state capital.
The Humsafar Express would start from Raipur at around 11.40 am and would reach Delhi by 8:25 AM the next day. It’s a bi-weekly train to run on Tuesdays and Fridays. The foundation stone laying ceremony will be held at Raipur railway station, followed by inauguration of various development works through video-conferencing.
The event is scheduled at 11.30 am. Two escalators for platform 2, 3,5 and 6 will also be started. Prabhu is scheduled to inaugurate narrow gauge maintenance facilities at Kendri, elevator facilities in Platform 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, high-speed Wi-Fi facility in Durg and Bilaspur railway stations and the newly built foot over-bridge at Dongargarh railway station.
The union minister is expected to meet chief minister Raman Singh around 10:45 AM, following which, he will attend the 62nd Annual National Railway Awards, to be held at Shri Satya Sai Saubhagyam Auditorium at Naya Raipur. Nearly 131 Railway employees including 70 non-gazette employees and 61 gazette officers from across country will be receiving awards under various categories for their exemplary performances. Among SECR, the senior division personnel officer Darshnita Ahluwalia and senior division operations manager Ravish Kumar Singh from gazette officer category along with Nivasram Yadav Track Maintenance Gr IV, Mukesh Kumar assistant loco pilot and Sumitra Pal Sr section officer (A/cs) from non-gazette category have been selected for awards.
The inaugural function will be attended by dignitaries including Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain while Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State for Railways and Union Minister of State for Communication (Independent Charge) Manoj Sinha are also likely to attend the function at Raipur.
